In the midst of a global pandemic in 2020, fate had a surprise in store for us. We met at a birthday party that we probably shouldn’t have attended, thanks to our wonderful mutual friend, Michelle. A week or two later, Michelle checked in to see how things were going with Jarvis. When I admitted I hadn’t heard from him, she took matters into her own hands. At 2 a.m. on Washington Avenue, she called Jarvis and, in no uncertain terms, told him he needed to get in touch with me—while insisting he “not embarrass her in front of her friends.” From that moment on, we’ve been inseparable. Our days have been filled with discovering each other’s quirks and falling deeper in love. He’s a charming country boy from Mississippi, and I’m what he affectionately calls a “city slicker” from the great state of New Jersey. Our differences made our connection all the more intriguing. One of the first stories he ever shared with me was about how he broke his wrist trying to tame a wild horse he called a “Palomino.” I had him repeat it at least three times, laughing hysterically each time because I had no clue what he was saying. The stark contrast between his world and mine only made our bond stronger. Since that unforgettable night, we’ve embarked on countless adventures together, traveling to new places and creating cherished memories. Our journey has been nothing short of magical, and we can’t wait to continue writing our story as we say “I do.”
