Old Tin Mine Trail
This is one of our favorite hikes and also the hike we got engaged on. It is not easily marked and you will have to go off trail to get to but it is not a difficult hike. You will park at Chuck Heinrich Memorial Park and there are several trails that you can hike from there.
White Sands National Park
White Sands is an amazing experience where you can enjoy walking through the white sand dunes or sliding down a hill. The sand is cool to the touch. However, the National Park is about an hour and a half away.
Carlsbad Caverns
Carlsbad is a downward hike while gazing through beautiful caves full of stalagmites and stalactites. It does get chilly the further down you go so dress in layers. Also, this site is about 2 hours away.
