Catherine and Terry met out in Baltimore one spring evening. Terry and his friend, Dennis, arrived at an already packed rooftop bar on its opening night. The boys quickly found the only open seats, two spots not-so-surprisingly next to Catherine and her friend, Tara. The group exchanged pleasantries and made small talk as the ladies paid their tab and left. The boys finished their drinks and left soon after. Terry lamented he had not even asked for a name, let alone a phone number from Catherine. Fortuitously, he was given a second chance as the boys went to a bar around the corner and found Catherine and Tara sitting at the café tables outside. The parties acknowledged each other as the boys sat a few tables away. As Dennis goaded Terry to invite the ladies to join their table, Tara happened to “need to powder her nose”, giving him a chance. Terry seized on the opportunity and walked over to Catherine, re-introducing himself, and inviting her and Tara to join their table. The girls joined, and the small talk transformed into persuasion as the boys successfully convinced the ladies to join them for another drink around yet another corner. Terry, not wanting to make the same mistake twice, asked for Catherine's number as the newly formed group left for their next destination, an old speakeasy in the lobby of the former Belvedere Hotel. The group found an opening at the bar, and having been there before, Terry and Dennis quickly placed their orders as the girls examined the menu. As his drink was being made, Terry suggested Catherine try it. Catherine agreed and took a cautious sip when the cocktail arrived. Before she put the drink down, Catherine had already claimed it as her own, and Terry had to order his "second round". As the night came to an end, Catherine and Tara returned home to study the next day, while Terry and Dennis carried on to late-night Korean BBQ. The next day Catherine texted Terry and he made plans to take her out on a date the following weekend. She's been preferring his drinks ever since.
