In the midst of the Covid pandemic causing global isolation, God made a way for Terrell and Kimberly to find each other and begin on their journey of love. Using the connection of the dating app Bumble, in July 2020, Kimberly and Terrell started messaging each other and the conversation took off from there. After 10 days of great conversation, Terrell and Kim met up for their first date with a picnic at Lake Johnson (because…pandemic and it had to be outside and appropriately socially distant of course!). Terrell's first impression of Kimberly was that she was as pretty as her picture. Kimberly’s first impression was that Terrell's humor was as spot on as his messages. And they both thought that it was funny coincidence that they drove the same type of car (Toyota Camrys for the win lol). The first date was going as well as could be expected until the revelation that both Kim and Terrell shared the same faith of growing up in the Church of Christ, which changed the tone of the date. As soon as that connection was made, they went from being a possible connection to feeling like they had grown up together and known each other for a while. The second date was at Moe’s, and they ended up sitting outside and talking for 8 hours until it closed, which for Terrell let him know that he had found something special. Terrell and Kim planned a number of creative dates during the pandemic including a mountain trip in December where Terrell knew it was time to make this relationship official. From that moment the rest is history as they continued to grow their relationship. During this time, Kim and Terrell both met and spent time with each other's families and friends which resulted in even more excitement and confirmation that this relationship felt meant to be and blessed by God. That feeling doubled again when Kim introduced Terrell to the wonderful church family at Southside Church of Christ in Durham NC that she’s been blessed to have since moving to North Carolina. Terrell instantly felt welcomed when met with the organic love Southside had for him.

With all of this support combined with Kim and Terrell growing in love and working to forge a healthy relationship, Terrell knew by the beginning of 2022 that Kim was the woman he wanted to spend the rest of his life with. Forming a Marvel Avengers-styled team to help with the proposal, Terrell recruited his friends, both his family and Kim's family, and the special planning committee of Kim's friends Mel, Joanna, Lena & Quentella to help plan a surprise proposal and engagement party on the same weekend. Using well placed distraction and the help of Kim's family, on June 2nd, 2022, Terrell proposed to a completely surprised Kim at her parents’ house in Ohio surrounded by her family. This surprise was followed up by the surprise engagement party on June 5th where the special planning committee organized a celebration at Kim's neighborhood clubhouse under the guise of Quentella's birthday party.
