Taylor and Terrance’s story technically started the very first weekend of college… even though Terrance barely spoke to her. Taylor was hanging out with some friends who, one just happened to be Terrance’s roommate. They were all piled in his room, and while Taylor and Terrance didn’t exchange more than a few words, she definitely noticed him. And when Taylor notices someone, she acts. So the second she left, she messaged his roommate asking about Terrance. The roommate came through with the Snapchat, and Taylor did what any determined freshman would do—she added him and started replying to his stories like it was her full-time job. Terrance, of course, gave her absolutely nothing. Not a reaction. Not a “lol.” Not even a pity emoji. But if you asked any of Taylor’s friends from freshman year, they’d tell you she confidently spent the entire year saying, “Terrance is going to be my husband.” Freshman year ended with occasional texts and a few overly-competitive iMessage pool games, but nothing more. Then COVID showed up and kicked everyone off campus, including whatever slow-burn situation they had going on. Fast forward to second semester of sophomore year. Campus reopened, and so did their story. Taylor and Terrance started talking more… or so Taylor thought. At one point she found out Terrance had actually BLOCKED her. Yes—blocked. Romantic, right? Once that little detail got cleared up, they started hanging out more and more. Somewhere between the late-night conversations, the laughs, and realizing how easy everything felt, it became obvious this was more than friendship. Then one night, Taylor looked at Terrance and said exactly what everyone familiar with her personality expected: “Are you going to ask me to be your girlfriend or what?” He did. And from that moment on, they’ve been inseparable—proof that sometimes, all it takes is patience, timing, a little persistence… and one very bold question.
