How we met

Long ago in a distant February

I was out shopping with an old friend and co-worker at the mall in Albany. During our shopping excursion, we went into Zumiez where Kaz was working and I saw him for the first time. I really do think time slowed down when our eyes met and I literally thought to myself "I'm going to marry this man." He made me try on a bunch of outfits I wouldn't ever actually buy while my friend fished as much info out of him as we could so I could later find him (no, not stalk lol) on social media. Well, a few outfits and years later- here we are!

The Proposal

"Uh, what are you doing?"

It was my 22nd birthday and Kaz had to work in the morning, but was off later in the day! We spent most of our time just enjoying the rest of the day off together and doing some birthday shopping in Salem. I had in the months before stated that having both of our families meet for the first time and do dinner would be the best present I could receive. Little did I know how monumental this night would actually be. Once it was time for us to leave so we could make our dinner reservation with our families, he started to stall saying that we couldn't leave just yet. After minutes of me stating that I was starving and going to wither away, we left. I knew where we were eating dinner and noticed quickly when he took a detour to the Albany Hertz car dealership. "Uh, what are you doing?' I asked when he parked out side of the dealership. "Just wanting to show you all of the cars," he said which I again learned was another stalling technique. We FINALLY made it to the restaurant and he wouldn't let me leave the car! Now I knew he was starting to act a little weird, especially because he knows not to keep this Italian waiting for a pasta dinner! Once we finally made it into the restaurant, we were directed to the large group room which was decorated in Christmas and birthday decor and had all of our family there! We enjoyed some really yummy food and then made it to desert! Monique (Kaz's mom) had baked a birthday cake for me which I cut into and saw some upside and backwards lettering baked into the cake (which she then proclaimed to be a pinterest fail but I love her for trying). She looked at me and told me Kaz had the backup cake because she meant to bake the proposal into the cake. So I turned around and he walked in with another cake with "Will you marry me?" written into the icing. After screaming yes and lots of hugs and kisses later- our engagement began!
