It all started at the beginning of the Fall 2019 semester at Georgia Southern University. Teriq was a senior, involved in a college ministry on campus, and Cederia was a sophomore, just scrolling through Instagram when she saw a flyer for a welcome-back cookout at the RAC Pavilion. Free food and a good time sounded perfect, so she shared it with her friends and they decided to go. When they arrived, some ministry friends asked how they found out about the event. After showing them the Instagram flyer, the girls smiled and said, “Oh, that’s Teriq’s post!”, then pointed him out across the pavilion. That was the moment our paths crossed. We introduced ourselves that day, although one of us (we won’t say who but take a guess ) was a little shy at first. A few days later, the conversations continued through Instagram, where friendly messages turned into meaningful talks. Before long, we were building a connection that felt so easy and natural, like it was always meant to be. Our first date was at the county fair, and on November 22, 2019, during a bowling night, Teriq asked Cederia to be his girlfriend, right after playing her favorite song, “Before I Let Go” by Frankie Beverly & Maze. Soon after, life threw an unexpected challenge our way when the world shut down during quarantine. But instead of drifting apart, we grew closer. We adopted our puppy, Ace, and built a foundation of love, laughter, and prayer. After graduation, we both relocated to Atlanta, where we’ve continued to grow— spiritually, professionally, and relationally. Atlanta has been home to countless memories and adventures, but Savannah, Georgia, has always held a special place in our hearts. During our college years at Georgia Southern in Statesboro, there wasn’t much to do nearby, so most of our dates and adventures were spent in Savannah. The city quickly became our favorite escape. That’s why on March 29, 2025, Teriq proposed on the deck of a riverboat cruise in Savannah, surrounded by the place where so many of our favorite moments happened. From the start, we’ve believed our story is bigger than just us. God has been at the center of our relationship, guiding us and growing us for His purpose. We are truly grateful to be entering this covenant of marriage, honoring Him as we step into forever, together.
