Ask any local about the mountains and you'll hear: "if you don't like the weather, wait 20 minutes." A rogue thunderstorm can roll through at a moment's notice despite all the sunshine emojis on your weather app. But stay tuned for the rainbow. So always bring a light jacket. 8,000ft Colorado, it's higher than you think. We're talking altitude, people. Why, what did you hear? Well when you're over a mile above sea level there is less oxygen. Altitude sickness can happen to even the seasoned local so don't make the rookie move of thinking you're immune. Just like freshman year, we suggest you chug, chug, chug... WATER! Electrolytes and potassium will be your best friend (besides us). Exercising can also knock you out just as easily as the alcohol. If you typically run 10 miles at sea level, run 6 in Aspen. You'll be grateful when you're on the dance floor. Aspen is a playground, get out there and have fun! Just make sure you're not the kid in the sandbox eating sand.
