Our Story

Our story began in the Army, where we each found someone who shared the same sarcastic outlook on life and a dark sense of humour that most people probably wouldn't approve of. After becoming each other's favourite person to annoy, support, and laugh with, a relationship was really the only logical outcome. After leaving the Army, we settled in South East England and started building our life together. First came Peanut, our handsome boy and the self-appointed CoS (Chief of Snacks). Then we rescued Bailey, who quickly made it clear that she was here to stay; demanding attention with the confidence of a celebrity and the persistence of a debt collector. At this point, we could have enjoyed a nice, normal life with two dogs. Instead, we got ducks. Because apparently that's the sort of thing you do when two dogs seem too straightforward. Along the way, we discovered a shared love of travelling. We've cruised around the Mediterranean and the Caribbean, explored new places together, and spent time boating in the Gulf of Mexico. We've also spent a worrying amount of time seeking out the biggest, fastest, and most terrifying rides at theme parks. Some couples enjoy spa weekends; we prefer being launched into the air at questionable speeds. Our travels around the United States introduced us to another obsession: American football. Dan supports the Washington Commanders, while Hannah cheers for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. This means our autumns are spent staying up far too late, planning holidays around game schedules, and convincing ourselves that flying thousands of miles to watch grown men chase a ball is perfectly reasonable behaviour. Then came Tennessee. What started as a holiday destination quickly became one of our favourite places in the world. We fell in love with the music, the scenery, the food, the people, and the slower pace of life. Every visit made us want to go back, and if either of us ever wins the lottery, there's a strong chance we'll disappear there permanently. Eventually, our adventures led us to Wales, where we found more space, more countryside, and—unfortunately for our bank accounts—more room for animals. We bought two horses and embraced country life, telling ourselves that this was definitely enough. It was not enough. One day, we found Butter abandoned at the side of the road. Most sensible people would have paused to think carefully before bringing home another animal. We are, by now, clearly not sensible people. Butter chose us, and within moments she became part of the family. So here we are: two people who met in the Army, travelled the world, became obsessed with American football, accidentally collected dogs, ducks, and horses, and somehow turned all of it into a wonderful life together. Like any good story, ours has had a few difficult chapters. Through every challenge, we've stood side by side, proving that together we can handle anything—especially when fuelled by stubbornness, love, and a well-timed trauma joke. We wouldn't change a thing. Well... maybe the duck-related chaos. Thank you for being part of our story. We can't wait to celebrate the next chapter with all of you as we finally make it official. ❤️🐾🏈🦆🐴✨
