If you plan to stay on island, *We STRONGLY recommend booking accommodations as soon as possible* Shelter Island is considered part of the Hamptons and is a popular destination in the summer and early fall months. Hotels on Shelter Island are limited, and home rental sites are the best option for lodging choices. If you cannot find a home directly on Shelter Island, the Greenport and Sag Harbor areas are also convenient to stay because the car ferries are nearby. Car Ferry

Shelter Island is only accessible by car ferry. There are two ferry options, which are located on the opposite forks of Long Island. The North Ferry departs from Greenport, NY and the South Ferry departs from Sag Harbor, NY. The ferries are operated by two separate companies, so the ticket prices and schedules are different. See below for more information!

One Way Vehicle and Driver - $15.00 Same Day Return Vehicle and Driver - North Ferry Only - $24.00 Additional Passengers Each Way (up to two passengers) - $3.00 ***IMPORTANT: Cash only!*** Last North Ferry off of Shelter Island back to Greenport is 11:45pm.

Sag Harbor (North Haven), NY 400 Ferry Rd Sag Harbor, NY 11963 There are no reservations - traffic is boarded on a first come first serve basis. Boats arrive every 10 minutes. Vehicles pay on board, see prices below. One Way Vehicle and Driver - $15.00 One Way Passenger - $2.00 Same Day Return Vehicle and Driver - South Ferry Only - $20.00 Additional Passengers Same Day Roundtrip - $3.00 IMPORTANT: ***Cash only!*** *For roundtrip tickets, each return trip must be completed on the same day as the first crossing. *All crossings after 12:00 a.m. are subject to a $2.00 surcharge. Last South Ferry off of Shelter Island back to Sag Harbor is 1:45am.

Flight

LI MacArthur, JFK, LaGuardia

New York has a few airport options to choose from! MacArthur Airport is closest to Shelter Island, but JFK and LaGuardia usually have better flight choices and are only a forty-five minute difference in drive.
