Our first overseas trip together was to Thailand in April 2023. The trip consisted of adventures, kai, sightseeing and the Thailand culture. On April 19th 2023, we were having lunch at Karon beach outside our resort. The waves were soft, the sun was up and the trees were swaying in the light breeze. It was the most perfect day. Te Moana wasn't talking much at this particular kai & I felt something was on his mind. I was trying to plan our gifts that we would take back to Aotearoa for our family and babies. Every well thought out and meaningful suggestion was acknowledged with a "yeah" "okay" "yup" "sweet". Thinking he did not care I start to over explain my reasoning for each gift. Mid sentence he took my hands in his and took a deep breath. Butterflies and nervs started to kick in, unsure what was going on, I watched the love of my life get down on one knee and ask me to be his wife.... Almost about to cry, he accidentally opened the box upside down with the ring on the top of the box facing down. My Virgo moon couldn't carry on until it was perfect so I quickly whispered "it's upside down" before shouting "YES". The entire restaurant began to applaud as he put the most beautiful diamond ring on my finger. I left Thailand and returned to Aotearoa the happiest girl.
