Flight

Addis Ababa

All flights should be booked to arrive at Addis Ababa Bole International Airport. We recommend arriving on Friday, February 6th, or Saturday morning, February 7th. Specifics on transportation from the airport to the hotel in Debre Zeyit will be added at a later date. Please note, due to the political instability in Ethiopia, we highly recommend purchasing travel insurance before booking your flight and booking tickets that have a cancellation policy. We would not be planning the wedding in Ethiopia if we didn't think it was okay to do so, but things can change quickly, and it's best to be prepared.

Hotel

Pyramid Hotels and Resorts

Bishoftu, Oromia, Ethiopia

The plan is to stay at this resort from Saturday the 7th until the morning of Tuesday the 10th. Due to the large number of guests attending the wedding, the fact that the African Union Summit is happening around the same time, and that the resort is very popular, we are planing to do a group booking for everyone once numbers are confirmed. In order to secure the resort, we would like to finish all bookings (including people sending us full payments for the three nights) by the end of June. Estimated prices: These prices are estimated based on current exchange rates which can change. 1. Standard room (two guests) - £57 - £84 per night 2. Family suit/ connected family (four guests) - £101 - £148 per night There are other room types which will roughly cost the same as those mentioned above so we haven't listed them. Amenities: Breakfast included, swimming pool, gym, massage

Hotel

Queen Hotel & Mado Hotel

Addis Ababa, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

You will be staying at one of these hotels from Tuesday the 10th for the remainder of the stay in Addis Ababa. We have chosen these hotels because they are close to Emaye's house (Temar's grandma) and to the Mels venue. The plan is for most of the wedding guests coming from abroad to stay here so that we can all be together (including the bride and groom)! Temar's parents have reserved rooms and you will have been contacted about the prices. Amenities: Breakfast included, restaurant/bar

Travel Note

Visa

Tourist visa is required when travelling to Ethiopia. Although visa's can be acquired on arrival, we advise for guests to purchase an e-visa at the latest 2-weeks before travelling. It cots around $60, please only use the link provide below to purchase your e-visa due to there being fraudulent websites.

Travel Note

Vaccinations

Guests will be travelling from several different countries which may have different advice about which vaccinations to get prior to travelling. Please look at the vaccination guidance from the respective countries you are travelling from. The plan is to stay in Debre Zeyit (aka Bishoftu) and Addis Ababa while we are in Ethiopia and we do not recommend travel out side of these areas.

Travel Note

General advice

We are aware that this will be the first time travelling to Ethiopia for a lot of our guests. This is a list of general advice that may not be common knowledge 1. Cash, ideally in the form of pounds or US dollars, can be exchanged for Birr when you are here 2. Please only drink bottled water 3. Salad is often prepared with non-bottled water so we advise against eating salad here 4. The zebra crossings are not actually zebra crossings (car's will not stop for you!) 5. Avoid openly displaying expensive items/ keep valuables out of sight
