It was the fall of 2018 in Cambridge, Massachusetts, when two people crossed paths in the most unexpected place—a level 301 improv class. What Victoria didn’t realize at the time, though, was that it technically wasn’t their first meeting. Turns out, Jesse had matched with her on a dating app back in 2016. But life happened, they never met up, and the match faded into the abyss. Victoria had totally forgotten about it, and Jesse never expected to see her again—until six months into dating, when he casually said, “By the way, we matched on Tinder a few years ago.” Over time, their friendship really took off. They ended up co-leading an improv team called “The Fumble Bees” (yes, really), and pretty much every hangout turned into a mix of laughter, creativity, and late-night deep talks. It didn’t take long before they both knew there was something more going on. At the time, Jesse was finishing up his PhD, and Victoria was working in Boston at FCLTGlobal. Between coffee breaks, improv rehearsals, and goofy inside jokes, they just kept getting closer. By summer 2019, the friendship officially turned into something more. Dating felt easy—like an improv scene where everything just clicks. And only six months in, Victoria did something she’d never done before: she invited Jesse to meet her family in Spain. It was a big deal—but Jesse fit right in. As the years went on, their relationship only got stronger. Jesse finished his PhD in math at MIT, and Victoria started her Master’s at UPenn. After quarantining together for over a year in Victoria’s tiny but cozy studio in Boston, they decided it was time for the next big move—literally. They packed up and started a new chapter together in Philadelphia. Not long after that, they welcomed Otis, their energetic little pup who quickly became the center of their universe. And then, on November 13, 2023, during a trip to Hakone, Japan, Jesse pulled off the surprise of a lifetime. With Mount Fuji in the background, he got down on one knee and asked Victoria to spend forever with him. (Spoiler: she said yes.) From improv classes in Cambridge to puppy snuggles and adventures around the world, Jesse and Victoria’s story is still unfolding—with a lot of love, laughter, and who knows what’s next.
