Question

What accommodation options are available in the UK?What accommodation options are available in the UK?

Answer

There are a variety of accommodation options across the area, with many guests choosing to stay in Windsor and nearby towns, where numerous Airbnb and hotel options are available. We have also secured preferred rates at our wedding venues: Crowne Plaza Marlow (traditional wedding) and Easthampstead Park (white wedding). Booking details are available in the Travel tab on our website. As both venues are in remote locations, we recommend staying at the venue on the night of the wedding. Guests not staying onsite should arrange a taxi in advance for departure; we will share recommended taxi companies closer to the date.

Question

Which airport should I fly into and what do I do from there?Which airport should I fly into and what do I do from there?

Answer

We recommend flying into London Heathrow Airport (LHR). It is the closest major international airport to both wedding venues and offers the most flight options. When you arrive at Heathrow: Go through UK immigration and customs Collect your luggage and proceed to arrivals. Once you’re landside, you have a few easy transportation options: Option 1: Uber or Bolt (ride share apps) 🚗 Uber and Bolt are widely available at Heathrow. This is the most convenient option, especially if you have luggage or are traveling in a group. Travel time to the wedding area is typically 45–75 minutes, depending on traffic. Option 2: Train + Uber/Bolt 🚆➡️🚗 From Heathrow, you can take a train into central London or toward Reading/Maidenhead, depending on your route. From the nearest train station, you can then take a short Uber or Bolt ride to your hotel/airbnb. This option works well if you prefer public transport, but it may involve transfers. If you’re unsure which option to take after landing, rideshare is the simplest choice.

Question

Do I need a visa to enter into the UK?Do I need a visa to enter into the UK?

Answer

Entry requirements depend on the passport your guest holds: U.S. passport holders: Most U.S. citizens do not need a visa for short visits. However, they do need to apply for an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) before travelling. This is a mandatory online travel permission. You can apply here: https://www.gov.uk/eta/apply Nigerian passport holders: Nigerian citizens do require a visa to enter the UK for visits such as tourism or weddings. They should apply for a Standard Visitor Visa through the UK Government system. You can check this and begin the process here: https://www.gov.uk/check-uk-visa?utm_

Question

What currency should I bring? Do I need cash? What currency should I bring? Do I need cash?

Answer

UK uses the British Pound (£ / GBP - check conversion rates a couple days before the trip). You do not need to bring much cash. Credit and debit cards are widely accepted throughout the UK, including public transport, restaurants, and shops. What we recommend: Bring a credit and/or debit card with no foreign transaction fees, if possible. Carry a small amount of cash (£20–£50) just in case, but it’s not required. Contactless payment (tap-to-pay) is very common in the UK.
