It was approximately 6:30 in the morning on a sleepy hallway of a Duke hospital unit. Emily was standing at a computer frantically getting prepared for her hectic day, nervous to teach a new nurse for the first time. Sarah arrived for her first day as a baby RN to find Emily as the preceptor assigned to teach her for the next 8 weeks. Sarah claims it was love at first sight for her. Emily was a little slower to realize it. Over the course of Sarah's orientation, the two became best friends. Emily finally worked up the courage to tell Sarah how she felt in the world's cheesiest Valentine's Day Card- really, the front said "I think you're GRATE" with a cheese grater. Sarah admitted to feeling the exact same way, and the rest, as they say, is history!

If you've heard the story before, you know it's as unbelievable as it is the actual truth. Sarah and Emily planned the exact same proposal for each other, down to the same surprise engagement party their families helped each of them "coordinate". On an anniversary trip the two had booked to Virginia Beach, Sarah and Emily went down to watch the sunrise one chilly morning. As soon as the two sat down, Sarah handed Em a card, looking just as nervous as Emily had when she handed Sarah that Valentine's Day card a few years back. After Emily read the card and quickly realized what was happening, she looked up to find Sarah down on one knee with a ring in her hand. "Wait, I have one too!!" Emily exclaimed and pulled out one of her own. Through laughter and tears, the two exchanged rings. They got a beautiful sunrise that morning, with even dolphins jumping out of the water. And the two lived happily ever after!!
