Getting to Telluride Getting to Telluride is easier than you think! ✈️ 11 major cities have direct flights to either Telluride Regional Airport (TEX) or Montrose Regional Airport (MTJ). While most guests will have a short connection, travel to Telluride is smooth and scenic once you’re here. Telluride Regional Airport (TEX) – Just minutes from town, with direct flights from select cities like Denver or Phoenix. Montrose Regional Airport (MTJ) – About 65 miles away, and the most common option for visitors. We recommend taking the Telluride Express shuttle from Montrose straight to town, it’s easy and comfortable. Montrose, on the other hand, is a scenic 65-mile drive from Telluride. Given the legendary landscape of the area, the views make the extra drive well worth it, especially if you’re unable to fly directly into Telluride Regional Airport. You’ll find direct flights into Montrose (MTJ) from major hubs like Atlanta (ATL), Chicago (ORD), Denver (DEN), Dallas (DFW and DAL), Houston (IAH), and New York. Several transportation companies provide service between Montrose and Telluride. Although rental cars are available at both airports, they’re not necessary. Telluride is wonderfully walkable, and the free Telluride/Mountain Village Gondola connects the two towns while offering breathtaking mountain views. Getting Around If you’re staying in Telluride for the whole trip, you likely won’t need a car. The town is compact and easy to navigate, and the free gondola and local shuttles make getting around simple. If you plan to explore more of the region, like Moab or Durango before or after the wedding, renting a car will give you the most flexibility.
