Our Story

First comes school, then comes marriage

Grace and Teddy first crossed paths in 7th grade at their good friend Jack’s Bar Mitzvah. They were just 12 years old, but something clicked right away. Even though they went to different middle schools, they stayed in touch and found ways to hang out—whether it was during summer tryouts for football and volleyball or just meeting up with mutual friends. By high school, their connection had only grown stronger. Almost every day after school, they’d switch off whose house to hang out at, quickly becoming a familiar and comforting presence in each other’s lives. It wasn’t just the two of them who got close—their families did too. Grace’s parents met Teddy for the first time on Halloween, when he showed up in a very memorable Magic Mike costume, complete with spandex and suspenders. From then on, it was movie nights, fast food runs, school dances, basketball games, and everything in between. During their Sophomore and Junior years, Grace and Teddy were practically glued at the hip with their closest friends, Raffy and Taylor. The four were inseparable—and life just felt better that way. Now, if you ask Teddy, he’ll probably tell you he had feelings for Grace pretty early on. But Grace wasn’t so sure—she didn’t want to mess up the friendship that meant so much to her. Still, by senior year, something shifted. Teddy finally worked up the nerve to tell her how he felt, and not long after that, they took a trip to Hawaii together—one of the first milestones in what would become a lifetime of shared adventures. After high school, they moved to Eugene for college. Living in separate apartments, juggling classes and part-time jobs, and adjusting to new routines—it wasn’t always easy. But through every challenge, they leaned on each other. They became each other’s safe place, their home away from home. Over the next five years, their relationship only deepened. They celebrated birthdays and holidays, took family trips, made new friends, and graduated from the University of Oregon. However, no matter what came their way, they never stopped choosing each other. They were always best friends first. When they moved back to Portland, they faced a whole new set of challenges—new jobs, living with their families during COVID, saving up, and dreaming big. Grace adopted Mowgli, her sweet and goofy golden retriever, and not long after, they bought their first home together in the very neighborhood where they grew up. Life had come full circle in the most beautiful way. Teddy proposed at Cannon Beach—one of Grace’s favorite places in the world—with their families secretly hiding nearby to witness the moment. As soon as he got down on one knee, it was an easy “yes.” Now, after over a decade of growing up and growing together, they’re beyond excited to begin this next chapter—hand in hand, heart to heart, and surrounded by the people they love most.
