I met Ted at his house on 17th Ave that he shared with 5 roommates (they had THE BEST Halloween party one time, be sure to ask them about it). I met one of his roommates, made some small talk, and then we walked to Taco Mamacita for margaritas and nachos. On our way, I ran into Kara (bridesmaid!), who I hadn’t seen in years. I was so surprised to see her and learn she had moved back to town from St. Louis. After we got settled, Ted was secretly put off because I ordered the “expensive” marg, and he thought I planted Kara there in case our date went bad (which is not true!). Our date was wonderful, and we ended up sitting there for several hours. Ted gushed about his family and best friends, working at a summer camp in New York, kicking a car in Scotland, and several other hilarious (and sometimes awful) stories. He made me laugh, smile, and I immediately felt like I could be myself. I didn’t know on that first date that he would be the person I would marry… but by the end of that summer, we were both in love, and the rest is history!
