Matron of Honor
In the Spring of 1999, we became linesisters, #3 and #4 on a line of 6, initiated into Iota Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta, Sorority, Inc. We became roommates that fall and over the past 20 years we became not only best friends, but sisters. Our friendship has been one of the most valuable relationships in my life. She knows me better than most, has been the keeper of my secrets and my dreams, and my greatest cheerleader and reality checker. We've grown into women together and shared more laughs and tears than we can count. Our relationship is sacred, and as I commit to my marriage, there is no one else I would rather have by my side.
Best Man
We were in San Francisco walking back to the office from a New Hire Training seminar for our new company, Bank of America. Though we had never met before, within 10 minutes we realized we knew many of the same people, hung out at the same places and even had mutual friends back in the DMV. A successful entrepreneur and avid fútbol enthusiast, he has always been known for his ability to bring people together, especially through his epic networking events. Nii carries a wise yet humble spirit, and over the past 20 years has become one of my closest friends.
Bridesmaid
My church wife! We met one August weekend on a church retreat for the 20.30's ministry. We were cabin-mates and of all the people in attendance, we connected and our friendship grew from that point forward. Ny is funny, smart and sincere and our friendship has been full of joy, growth, accountability and lots of love. A true friend, she has seen my relationship with Greg flourish and grow and has been enthusiastically supportive and amused by it all. I am honored to have her stand with me on this special day.
Groomsman
Abyssinian Baptist Church in Harlem New York is were I met Taft. We became friends working together on the Progressive Men's & the Elite Usher Boards and Blue Nile Rights of Passage. Over the past 14 years we have become great friends and he has proven to be a Strong, Intelligent and Responsible Black Man! He stood behind me during a very challenging time in my life and now he is standing beside me during one of the happiest time of my life.
Flower Girl
My intelligent, fun loving and Beautiful niece. She is the apple of her daddy's eye, with an adorable imagination and wise beyond her age. She is truly the princess of our family.
Officiant/Brother of the Bride
Kaloma was my first friend, I was his first headache. So close in age, he has been on this journey of life with me and has seen me grow through all phases. It was only natural that my "big brother" serve as the officiant for our wedding. I'm sure it will be the most meaningful wedding he's officiated to date......
Mother of the Bride
My role-model, adviser and burst of energy when I need it. My Mother taught me to go for my dreams, honor my purpose, love God with all I have and never apologize for who I was created to be. She has never wavered in her conviction and has allowed me to grow into my own woman while guiding me along the way. She still asks tough questions and cheers me on wholeheartedly. I've treasured the way our relationship has developed and am grateful for the opportunity to shower her with love, be a sounding board and a source of support, the way she has my entire life.
Mother of the Groom
Mom, is calm, full of wisdom, a great achiever and beautiful. However, it's difficult growing up when your friends are commenting that "Your Momma is Fine" all the time, (you don't know whether to punch somebody or take it as a compliment). My mothers' successful career provided all the inspiration I needed to know I could achieve in any field of human endeavor. Her elegance, style, fashion and love for music, was the source of my inspiration for the same. Thank you mom for being a pillar of strength, you are the rock of my foundation,
Father of the Bride
No words can describe the love I have for my Father. I am a "Daddy's Girl" to the core. I love being his only daughter and the uncompromising love and support that comes with it. He has been the guiding force and rock of our family and has given me an example of what God as the head of the household looks like. He is smart, kind, funny, caring and showed me all the things I wanted in a life partner. His love of God and family is unparalleled and I am so happy he is here to walk me down that aisle. That is my greatest joy.
Father of the Groom
Dad has led, excelled and won at anything he puts his mind to or his hands on. He taught me about manhood, to never give up and to enjoy my life, through guidance and by his example. My father introduced me to my love of sports (especially Football, Basketball & Drag Racing) which we talk about almost every weekend and showed me how to be a leader through his many successful entrepreneurial enterprises. From childhood through adulthood, thank you for all the nuggets of wisdom and continuous support as I open a new chapter in my life.
