A beautiful series of beaches for you to explore with plenty of hiking trails. AllTrails recommendation: Blind Beach to Wright's Beach via Kortum Trail (point to point hike): 3.9 miles, 301 ft elevation gain, 1-2 hrs, kid-friendly, beautiful coastal views and wildlife including eagles and hawks
Our good friends Veronica & Doug showed us Duncan Mills and we loved it there. It's a tiny village that has an amazing teashop (Duncan Mills Tea Shop) that will have any tea you can think of, the Poet's Corner Bookshop, and we had a very tasty lunch after our hike with Doug & Veronica at the Cape Fear Cafe. It's a quick stop on your way to the Armstrong Redwoods State Natural Reserve.
The Sonoma Coast State Park is in Bodega Bay - soooo many beautiful beaches - we brought beach blankets to the Driftwood Lodge come and borrow them. March is also a great time for whale watching - see whale watching post). The Bodega Bay Surf Shack is your spot if you want to rent SUPs, kayaks or take surfing lesson, see link above. If you feel like some live music during dinner - the Bluewater Lounge at Bodega Bay has Lauralee Brown playing guitar and singing on Thursday 3/26 from 4-7pm.
If you would like to get a chance to see gray whales, go ahead and book a tour with the Bodega Bay Whale Charters. Chances should be pretty good in March and if you get as lucky as us, you might even spot some whales just from the shore.
