How We Met

Socks and Rocks

It all started with socks & rocks, but let’s start with a bit of background. My bestie Ang and I managed an executive suite location in Round Rock, TX. Many of our now long-term friendships evolved in that building, so there are many great memories. In 2010 Kenan leased an office. Needless to say he was one of the needy tenants (that’s what I tell him...lol!). We nick named him Baby Clooney, as we thought he looked like George Clooney. (he's a much handsome version.) Strictly business, he was a tenant until 2012. Fast forward to 2016, my company was opening a location, and to celebrate the grand opening we hosted an event , which included a scotch tasting. I sent an invite out to my LinkedIn network. Out of the blue I got a call from Kenan, who I had not seen or spoken to in 4 years, to let me know he was attending. I told him that it was great to hear from him and looked forward to seeing him at the event. The day of the event had arrived. Kenan showed up and schmoozed with the crowd. It was a working event for me, so I did not have a lot of time to catch up other than welcome him and tell him to enjoy the scotch! (which he did!) At the end of the event each of our guests received a parting gift of a fun pair of black and red polkadot socks and whiskey stones as a thank you. We said our goodbyes, thanked him for coming and told him we needed to catch up soon and once again parted ways. Later that night, I get a text message that reads “Thanks again, I really love the socks and rocks!” Drunk text perhaps? It made me giggle and replied “Great, you’re welcome!” I even told Ang about it the next day. A week goes by and I get another call from Kenan. This time it was a somewhat awkward attempt (which was adorable, by the way), to ask me out to dinner for our first date at Eddie V’s. I happily accepted and so glad I did. After all those years to reconnect, we found what we both had been missing...each other!

The Proposal

2-13-19

Secretly Kenan, my parents and my bestie together planned weeks prior to the big day, the perfect proposal on the day before Valentines at Fogueira Gaúcha Brazilian Steakhouse. Excited to spend a Valentines dinner with my parents, my brother Juan, my best friend Angela and her daughter Rebeca, I had no idea what was to come, but this was the happiest moment I will never forget and I have a video of it that will last forever!
