It all began on Hinge, where Christian sent his only rose to Kaylee. His opening line was: “Please tell me you’re not a Jets fan?” To which Kaylee replied, “J-E-T-S suck, suck, suck.” From that moment, you can say it was love at first Jets hating.
We set up our first date for a week later, and Kaylee was so nervous that her mom insisted she take a shot before Christian arrived for pickup. We had planned to go to Earls, but when we saw the wait time was too long, we decided on Cantina Catrina instead. Both of us were so nervous that neither of us managed to eat a bite. But what we did have was an effortless conversation with no awkward silences. As the restaurant was closing, we realized we weren’t ready to end the night. So, we drove to a park near Kaylee’s house. We were lost in conversation when, about 30 minutes in, a female cop knocked on our window, reminding us of the COVID curfew. She made sure we were okay and gently ushered us to head home. Despite the abrupt end, the night had been perfect. From that first date, we were inseparable. And as we look back on that evening, we can’t help but smile, knowing it was the beginning to our forever.
