University of Florida
If it weren't for the university, we never would have met! Check out the bat houses at dusk, the museums, Lake Alice, and more.
Swamp Head Brewery
Swamphead is Gainesville's original microbrewery. This little bar is right next to where we lived as undergrads, and it's also the location of our first date-- making it a special place to us (the locally brewed beer selection doesn't exactly hurt its appeal either).
Kanapaha Botanical Gardens
January is one of the best months to be outside in Florida. Kanapaha is a good place for long walks, picnics, and just soaking up some nature (entry is $7)
Harn Museum of Art
Katie used to volunteer here, and admission is free! (P.S. there's a little natural history museum right next door if that's your thing instead)
La Chua Trail
More trails and trees! We've often seen wild horses and alligators here, and its prairie outlook is one of our favorite places in Gainesville to watch the sunset.
