We’re (finally) getting married!

As the story (actually) goes, we began chatting online via a gay dating app in summer 2015, but did not actually meet until January 2016. Why so long you may ask? It depends who tells the story. If you ask Neal, he will say, it’s because John was too busy having a “hot boy” summer being oblivious to his shameless flirting. If you ask, John, he will deny all of this and say that it’s because he was getting his life together and not ready to date at the time. Whatever the “truth” is, they maintained a casual texting situation through the end of the year. Then, on a cold January day in 2016, John messaged Neal out of the blue and said, “hey, I think you’re really cute, we should get together sometime” and Neal, never one to not jump at an opportunity, replied, “yes, let’s do tonight.” That night, John arrived to pick Neal up, and Neal asked, “how about we get some food, maybe dim sum? I don’t know if you like spicy food.” And to Neal’s delight, John replied, “I love spicy food.” If this were a cartoon, heart eyes 😍 would have appeared on Neal’s face because John seemed like he was up for adventure. From that moment until now, 9 years later, we have been on many adventures, continuously building great memories with one another from epic road trips around the south to being dog dads to our sassy pittie Banks. We are so excited to have the next adventure be a long awaited day of matrimony, and we are looking forward to sharing this day with our loved ones.
