Same dorm, 1 floor apart; same apartment building, 2 floors apart; same party, one room apart … After 5 years of perfectly missed encounters, it became clear that timing is everything. It’s been said that Brooke and Greg finally met watching the NBA playoffs at her condo... but she noticed him long before that. Working at Ncounter (a local breakfast place), it was impossible not to notice the firefighter that came in early morning after work to get his Chipotle Egg Burrito. Meanwhile, he knew she worked there since the first time he walked in. In her attempt to “play it cool” she never showed a hint of interest while trying to read the tiny font on his shirt to learn his name. Needless to say, when he walked into her condo with a few mutual friends, she was very pleasantly surprised. After giving her a dose of her own sarcastic humor, she was hooked. Months turned into years and Brooke's lingering feeling of moving to California hadn't let up. After getting hired with Mesa Fire, it would be very difficult for Greg to start all over again in CA. It was the toughest hurdle for them to overcome and they wrestled with what to do. After going through phases of talking about it all the time to not talking about it at all because it became too hard, Greg finally figured out what he needed to do; he told her to go. In the most intense moment of their relationship, and hearing the words she thought she wanted, her entire mind began to rearrange. With his eyes filling up and his voice soft as can be, she just looked at him. She was sitting in front of someone who loved her so deeply, he put her feelings/desires/life before his own. The one statement she had been waiting years to hear, was the single thing that made her stay. This was a defining moment in our relationship where we learned the true depth of our love for each other. For those who didn't know our story, we hope sharing this brings you just a little closer on our special day. We'll see you 3.30.19!
