FAQs

Question

Traveling to Woodland Park

Answer

Woodland Park is approximately 45 minutes from Colorado Springs. You can fly into Denver (DEN) and have a 1.5-2 hour drive, or you can fly into Colorado Springs (COS) and have a 45 minute drive. In July we have frequent afternoon thunderstorms that are short but intense- please keep this in mind if you plan to fly in day of the event as it may cause flight delays. The drive from Colorado Springs to Woodland Park is a BEAUTIFUL mountain pass. The road is windy but the views are spectacular. Keep an eye out for any wildlife! You can try Stacey's moose call of "Mr. MOOOOOSEEYYY" which has yet to be successful, but she holds out hope! If you choose to extend your time in Colorado we recommend checking out more of the mountain range to the west near Breckenridge and Keystone, heading north to Estes Park, or south to the Royal Gorge.

Question

Colorado Weather

Answer

There is a big change in weather from Colorado Springs to Woodland Park. In Colorado Springs expect temperatures in the 90s during the day and 60s overnight. The sun is STRONG so please drink lots of water and wear sunscreen! We expect weather in Woodland Park to be 15 degrees cooler due to the higher elevation (please see the FAQ about altitude precautions). As always, no humidity in Colorado so bring your chapstick!

Question

How to prevent altitude sickness

Answer

Woodland Park is at 8500 feet of elevation so we recommend the following precautions: - Drink tons and tons of water! Most elevation sickness comes from dehydration - Wear sunscreen if you will be out in the sun - you are 1.5 miles closer to the sun and with less ozone you can get a burn much more quickly - Be extra cautious with alcohol consumption. Alcohol hits 3x more potently when consumed at elevation. - If you know you do not tolerate elevation well, we recommend staying a in Denver or Colorado Springs for a day before traveling to Woodland Park to help ease into the elevation adjustment. We will have Boost oxygen cans available for any guests at the wedding ceremony and reception. If you start to feel unwell, hydrate well, and head back towards Colorado Springs if needed.
