On July 5, 2015, a bearded man sporting long flowing locks, a backward baseball cap, and basketball shorts stepped out of his mom's car ready to start his first day of video work at a summer camp in Naples, ME. The devilishly handsome flip-flop wearing man sat down outside the camp headquarters watching respectfully as the campers put on a loud pre-game pump-up ritual. We'll call him Abe. Meanwhile, up in the sweltering attic of the camp headquarters, a girl wearing her beloved Hawkeye baseball cap and tall outdoor boots suited for cooler weather sifted through old musty costumes. She was an Iowa girl on a brave new adventure, after all, Maine had bears that could eat you and spiders. We'll call her Jobob. Jobob bounced down the stairs, out to where the campers were. She noticed a charming new face and attempted to make small talk. Her attempts at small talk were not greeted with matched enthusiasm, so off she went. A few evenings later, at a camp social where Abe showed off his almost performance level hip-hop moves and Jobob danced stunningly on rhythm (to whatever beat she was hearing), he asked if she wanted to tag along on a time-lapse shoot of the night sky. A long walk in the dark later, camera gear in tow, they reached a dock on the lake. They laid back on the dock staring up at what they assumed was the Milky-way, astronomers they were not. Immediately, the two started chatting away. It was as if they'd been best friends forever, they laughed so hard they couldn't breathe; snot was coming out of noses. Some hours later, it was time to head back. Not wanting their time to end, they packed up and headed back. They giggled as they climbed up the dirt trail, completely lost in pitch black. She clung to his arm, playing it cool, "If I fall, you're coming down with me." The night ended with a quick hug and wave. But following that night, they became inseparable. And as they say, the rest is history. #teamabebob (a camp given nickname for the two lovebirds)
