One fateful night in October 2018, at a basement punk rock show in Portland, Nick was introduced to a young woman named Tealsa who spent most of the night roasting him. At one point, she challenged him to break into a locked chicken coop which he nobly attempted, but alas failed. He found her to be beautiful, funny, and smart but most of all he wanted to learn more about this woman. Tealsa knew nothing about Nick but remembered seeing him when she was fifteen, around 2011, right before she moved to Anchorage. He was a drummer for a band called the Rain People and they were playing at Wallapalooza at Willamette University. Though they did not meet at this time, Tealsa thought he was very cute and talented. Tealsa admits that she would check in on his Facebook now and then out of curiosity. Over the next several years, Tealsa enjoyed life in Alaska and traveled while Nick served in the military and later worked as a stagehand. Back to 2018, Tealsa and Nick were both living in Oregon again and found themselves at the same basement show. The smell of cheap beer filled the air, the mosh pit that Nick instigated was sweaty, and the chicken coop sat unbothered. Its as if the stars aligned just for them in the perfect romantic setting; however, Tealsa almost immediately thought Nick was kind of a jackass and Nick told Tealsa she was "annoying". In reality he was just masking his true feelings for her and Tealsa, well, she genuinely had a bit of distaste for him despite still secretly thinking he was attractive. Seven months later, Nick ended his silly little games and texted with Tealsa for three months before he grew on her and she finally agreed to a date. Nick asked Tealsa to be his girlfriend within two weeks of dating and she refused, but as the weeks turned into months, she realized that she enjoyed his company and that they have a lot in common. They enjoy sharing a laugh over the same things as well as the same food, music (their tastes are 95% compatible on Spotify), and activities such as reading, hiking, and going to concerts. They also share a love for animals and travel. Tealsa eventually caught on to what Nick had known since the beginning of their courtship and agreed to be Nick's girlfriend in August of 2019. On February 12th, 2022, Nick took Tealsa to a lovely seafood dinner in Newport, next to the sea lions on the bayfront. Then they went hunting for the Oregon coast's famous glass globes. Tealsa told Nick to hurry up as he kept stopping to fumble around in his backpack for something. A few minutes later, Nick got down on one knee and proposed to Tealsa with a beautiful ring at sunset on the beach. Tealsa was shocked and of course said yes! After three years and five months of dating, we decided to get married in an intimate ceremony in Brookings, OR. We will have a reception for our family and friends at a date that is TBD. :)
