Thomas and I met in choir rehearsal. He had recently moved back to Wilmington about a year prior to our meeting. Thomas asked me and another choir member to join him at this jazz event one Saturday evening. About a week later, he asked me out for lunch. I knew Thomas was special when he gave me a Vera Wang diamond and sapphire bracelet on our first date! He told me he wanted to show his thanks to me for accepting his lunch invitation. Over the next couple of years, Thomas managed to break the wall, I had built around my heart, and capture it. That wasn't an easy task to do! Thomas showed his love for me not only in words but with his actions as well. On January 12, 2020, 2 years, 1 month and 7 days after our first date, after calling my mom and my daughter, Thomas got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. In a Minnie Mouse t-shirt and sweatpants (I was definitely not expecting a proposal), I said yes! After every storm, God will show you a rainbow. Thomas is definitely my rainbow.
