FAQs

All guests are responsible for making their own transportation arrangements to and from the airport. Transportation options below in order of recommendations:
Question

TRANSPORTATION TO AND FROM THE AIRPORT

Answer

1) Hotel service – the easiest and most reliable option is to contact your hotel in advance and request transportation upon arrival and departure; hotels can provide a private car or van and driver to pick you up, depending on the number of people in the group. Charges can usually be made directly to rooms. 2) Ubers at the airport – Ubers can be picked up at the airport. Ubers work fine with accounts set up with US credit cards. FYI, the Uber platform in Colombia is mostly in Spanish. 3) Taxis at the airport – Taxis at the registered stand for taxis inside the airport in the baggage claim area are also safe and affordable; however, payment must be made in Colombian pesos. Do not take taxis on the street or from the many people hawking taxi and transportation services both within and as soon as you exit the airport. Depending on the time of your arrival and the location of your hotel, it may take anywhere from 40 minutes to an hour and quarter to reach your hotel. The cost is approximately COL$70-90,000, or US$20–25.

Question

GROUND TRANSPORTATION IN CALI

Answer

The general recommendation here is the same as to and from the airport. The easiest options are to request a car service through your hotel or to use Uber. Again, do not pick up taxis from the street in Cali. Keep in mind that traffic in Cali can be very heavy, and you should add extra time for moving around the city, regardless of what Google maps estimates.

Question

TRANSPORTATION TO AND FROM WEDDING VENUE

Answer

Transportation will be provided to return all guests to their hotels after the reception. Two departures will be provided, one at 12:00 midnight and the other at the end of the reception at 3:00 am. The loop of all the hotels should take about 45 minutes.

Question

'CLUB CAMPESTRE' CLUB ACCESS

Answer

All wedding guests, regardless of where you are staying, will have access to the Club Campestre during your visit to Cali. Keep in mind that all guests entering the club, whether you are staying at the club hotel or not, must show identification at the gate every time you enter. FYI, club personnel at the entry gate do not speak English. Depending on the time of day and the congestion at the main gate, entering the club can take from 5–15 minutes as every vehicle and person is individually registered before being able to enter. f you are not a guest at the club’s hotel, you can pay for any expenses (restaurant, spa services, salon) with a US credit card or Colombian pesos. Accessing the club and its grounds and using the swimming pool area and gym have no charge. Green fees will apply for playing golf. Caddies for golf and tennis should be paid in Colombian pesos.

Question

COVID MEASURES

Answer

As of now, Covid infection rates across Colombia are negligible. Masks are only required on AVIANCA flights. However, this could change, so please bring face masks. Also, make sure you travel with your physical vaccination card; you may or may not be required to show it for traveling or to access the club or other venues, but better to be safe than sorry. The Cali airport requires a mask to pass through security, so please have one on hand or be prepared to buy one at the airport.

Question

PASSPORT AND IMMIGRATION

Answer

US citizens do not need a visa to travel to Colombia if you will be in the country for less than 30 days. A few days before your flight, airline carriers should send a link to ColMig, the Colombian online immigration platform where you will be required to fill out a form with your passport and travel information. The confirmation email that you have successfully registered on this platform will be required by the airlines as a part of the check-in procedure and the information itself is verified when going through immigration in Colombia. *Highly recommend screenshotting the barcode/confirmation once the form is completed and not waiting for the email as it often does not arrive immediately for check-in. The platform is not particularly user-friendly, but you will save yourself a lot of time if you muscle through and submit this prior to traveling.

Question

Language

Answer

Cali is not exactly a tourist destination, so you will find varying levels of English language spoken. Hotel staff and airport personnel will have enough basic English but do not expect English to be spoken very well in restaurants or in general throughout the city or club. It’s a good opportunity to brush up on your Spanish!

Question

MONEY, CREDIT CARDS, AND TIPPING

Answer

Credit and debit cards are generally accepted everywhere. US dollars are not commonly accepted, except in the airport, hotels, and some restaurants. Dollars can be exchanged for Colombian pesos at the airport or in major hotels. Restaurants add a flat 10% “servicio” to all bills; adding anything extra is neither expected nor customary. Neither is it customary to tip taxis or car services.

Question

GENERAL SECURITY INFORMATION

Answer

Cali is a regional city in a developing country. The city changes very rapidly from one neighborhood to another, with a rather fluid security situation. Guests should feel free to walk around during the day; doing so in groups of any size is always safer than being alone. The Alko Integrado Hotel is within walking distance of the Club Campestre, although at night it is recommended that you take transportation. For guests staying in the hotels in Ciudad Jardin neighborhood (Hilton Garden Inn, Acqua Lofts, and Alko Integrado) and in the Barrio San Antonio (Intercontinental, Marriot, and the Casa Nispero), walking around your neighborhoods in the day is also perfectly safe, but is not advisable after 9 pm. It is recommended that you not display cell phones, watches, or jewelry when you are out on the street. As the New Orleanians know- just be street-smart and alert!
