How We Met

Our love story began in Santa Fe, in 2012.

Carl had just moved from California to work as a Sous Chef at a local & soon-to-be opened barbecue restaurant. Tazbah was in school for her undergraduate degree and picked up a part-time job, as a Head Hostess, at the same restaurant. Once the restaurant opened, Carl would frequent the hostess' stand to ring-in a root beer float & Tazbah would often visit the kitchen to print children's menus. They enjoyed many moments of flirtatious banter & Carl eventually found out of her then preference of brie over brisket. From that moment on, Carl would make her his famous veggie enchiladas. After finding a mutual love of traveling, puppies & ice cream, the rest is history!

The Proposal

Our love story continued in South Korea in 2017.

Tazbah had just finished a 10 day trip when Carl met her in Seoul, South Korea. Little did she know, he had been planning a proposal & her absence was the perfect time to plan. A few days into the trip Carl planned a morning to be spent in museums (Tazbah's favorite) and an evening at the Namsan Seoul Tower. As they made their way up to the tower, on a gondola, it started to snow. It was the only day it snowed during their trip. At the top, Tazbah saw all the beautiful & colorful "locks-of-love" and sweet love notes carved into the wooden railings. She proclaimed she wanted to purchase a lock but Carl nervously insisted they wait. Confused but willing let the moment play forward, Tazbah and Carl walked around and took many selfies. Carl had asked his new chef friend to help make reservations at the restaurant with a view of the city and to be their proposal photographer. Tazbah had no idea their friend would be there and decided it wasn't him they "ran into" and she tried to defer from an embarrassing encounter. It was indeed their new friend & his sister who offered to show the lovebird tourists around the tower. Tazbah kind of had an idea of Carl proposing but thought this was ruining his plan. Little did she know what was about to happen... They took Carl & Tazbah to a secluded spot (written on the stairs said "proposal staircase" lol). Carl brought out a scrapbook he had been working on. In the book were photos & ticket stubs he had been saving for six years. The book told their story, all the way up until that night... Carl proposed in not only English but also in Korean & Diné bizaad (the Navajo language). He also had a lock ready & engraved with the date, their names & in Korean "Our Story Continues..." They chose a perfect spot to lock their love & threw the key over the railing into the foggy forest.

The Wedding

Tuesday, May 29, 2018

Carl & Tazbah wed on a sunny & warm Albuquerque afternoon at Advanced Health Care. Tazbah´s father was hospitalized and as a family we were concerned of the timing. They planned the wedding in just two days. They wish you all could have been there but please join them in celebrating their Anniversary in Santa Fe next May!
