How We Met

Classmates to Lovers

Natalie stepped into BIO 1302 on the first day of second semester, looking for a quiet place to settle in. She picked a seat with one empty chair beside her, never imagining it would matter. Moments later, a boy slid into that spot like fate had saved it for him. Their shared love of Disney and their playful competition in every exam pulled them closer with each passing week. Six years later, that simple choice of a seat has become the beginning of the story that brings them to their wedding day!

The Sketch That Started It All

Back in biology lecture, Ian and I used to talk about how we both wanted a Disney wedding someday, and not with each other, just in that dreamy freshman‑year way where you talk about the kind of life you hope you’ll have one day. And because I used to doodle anything when I would zone out of lecture (sorry Dr. Harvill), my notebook was always full of random little things that our row would laugh about. One day, I drew a whole wedding picture, and since Ian and I were truly just friends at the time, I wasn’t about to draw myself marrying him... so they may have not liked it, but I paired him with our friend who sat on the other side of him in lecture. And I’m his maid of honor… so maybe low-key crushing, but it was just another silly doodle back then that we all laughed at. But the castle, the celebration, and the happily‑ever‑after vibe ended up being a pretty funny little preview of where life actually took us. Somehow, this little sketch ended up aging better than I ever expected. Here’s the original drawing.
