James and Taylor Raye met in a non-traditional blind date on an online dating app known as Bumble, where "swiping right" meant a chance at meeting a special someone. It was the beginning of Summer 2016 when James first saw a message from the lovely Ms. Taylor. "Hey! How's your weekend going?". Finally, a nice message not riddled with cheesy pick up lines. After a few messages back and forth, James and Taylor Raye agreed to meet at the 12 South Taproom in Nashville. Both were eager to meet and after a ride back to his car, James left thinking Taylor Raye was one of the nicest ladies he'd ever met. Taylor Raye would tell friends later that she was mostly impressed by his kindness, and ability to listen. As fate would have it, Taylor Raye would run into James just the next night, and she thought he was on another date! Thankfully, James had his family visiting that weekend and was showing his middle sister, Caroline, a local bar. (Unrelated, James doesn't quite have the game to pull two nights in a row with two different women). James and Taylor Raye would go on to date each other after that funny run-in with one of her future sister-in-laws, and the fun hasn't stopped. Their favorite things to do are to walk Shelby Park in East Nashville, try new restaurants, go to yoga, hike a waterfall, watch College Gameday, host friends at their apartment, or visit their families, which include many roadtrips in the always reliable Elantra. 2018 was a momentous year for James and Taylor Raye. Sadly, the unexpected loss of Taylor Raye's father, Tim, was a tragic moment for the Daniels family and tested their relationship. With heavy hearts, the couple leaned in on each other and realized that the small stuff wasn't worth sweating. They would press on with a much anticipated trip to Thailand, a trip that Taylor Raye surprised James with. It was after this year that they knew that this relationship was a forever thing. Following the adoption of their sweet pup, Maggie, James proposed to Taylor Raye in the Fall 2022 on Halloween weekend at the Shelby Bottoms Greenway. With the help of his younger-sister, Emily, he pulled off a surprise with their friends and family nearby to celebrate their love. On a personal note, James and Taylor Raye are forever thankful for our friends and family who have been there for them through all their highs and lows. We couldn't be here without you all and are beyond excited to celebrate in Chattanooga with you. You're going to love it!
