Also known as the R.R. Foil Plant Science Research Center, North Farm is comprised of around 750 acres of arable land which house the MSU Veterans Memorial Rose Garden, Soil-Atmosphere-Plant-Research facility, Mississippi Trial Gardens and row-crop research plots. In addition to research by the Mississippi Agricultural and Forestry Experiment Station, the farm also is used for Extension outreach and educational demonstrations for producers across Mississippi and the Midsouth. The gravel roads crisscrossing the farm make absolute perfect walking lanes.
National wildlife refuges offer us all a chance to unplug from the stresses of daily life and reconnect with our natural surroundings. Aside from hunting and fishing, the refuge is known for nature photography and birding. The National Audubon Society has designated Sam D. Hamilton Noxubee National Wildlife Refuge as an Important Bird Area, one of five of global importance in Mississippi.
