Her Recommended Activity- Light Hike into Smalls Falls
This is one of our favorite places in the area! Long before we met, we both visited Smalls Falls with our families as children. On my first trip to Rangeley with Taylor we tried to walk down into the falls, but the snow was so deep that one of my legs sank in straight up to the hip, and I couldn't move! Taylor pulled me up out of the snow, and we went back to camp to get some dry clothes and some snow shoes. When we returned and got down into the falls area, we found the snow piled on the bridge up to the railing. I was terrified to cross it for fear of falling, but Taylor told me the solution was simple, "don't fall." Thankfully, I didn't and the views were spectacular. Last summer, we returned to Smalls Falls for a quick early morning hike, where Taylor proposed! We had the whole park to ourselves to enjoy our special moment and take in the beautiful summer morning. Take a look along the bridge railings and see if you can find where we signed our names during our engagement shoot!
The Inner Eye Coffee Shop
A quirky and surprisingly trendy coffee shop- this has long been the go to for Taylor W's morning coffee cravings. She fell in love with the site when she discovered it occupied a former pharmacy, and that the proprietors had kept this theme when decorating the lovely store. While you can no longer pick up your prescriptions, get your caffeine and carb fix at The Inner Eye!
His Recommended Activities- Quill Hill
After 20 years of spending time in the Rangeley area, my parents and I finally discovered this stunning location this summer! Located just 20 minutes from the town center, this car accessible mountain top offers stunning views of the Western Maine mountains. On a clear day, you can see as far as Mt. Washington, Quebec, and Katahdin.
Outdoor Heritage Museum
A short drive outside Rangeley will bring you to the small town of Oquossoc, Maine- where Taylor B had his first job! In this town you'll find the wonderful Outdoor Heritage Museum- a catalogue of the region's rich sporting history. From the earliest human inhabitants to the area, all the way to 20th century U.S. Presidents, you'll learn all about what makes this corner of the world special.
