I met Chris in sixth grade when he moved to Jesup in the middle of the year. He was in my gifted social studies class and he used to cause quite the ruckus in there. Mrs. Ellis had her work cut out for her when Chris joined that class. Definitely didn't see me with that crazy kid back then.
Chris and I were opposites in high school. He was more of a class clown and I was quieter and more introverted. I started hanging out with him due to band and mutual friends our junior year of high school. By the end of junior year, we had started flirting and tested that budding romance even further when we shared our first kiss on a band trip to Disney World. We would not end up dating until Valentine's Day of senior year where he asked me to be his girlfriend... with the help of a gigantic stuffed dog he hid in my car. We will have been together almost six and a half years when we get married and I have enjoyed every second of it.
I already knew that Chris had a plan for how he was going to propose for over a year now and he had told me he had the ring. I knew it was coming but I did not know how. We took a weekend trip to St. Augustine to take a break from work and summer classes. I like to look for seashells on the beach and he told me that he wanted to go along and help me look. While walking the beach, I found many seashells but nothing spectacular. Chris told me to look behind me because I missed an unopened oyster shell. I turned around and bent down to pick it up when I noticed the tape on the shell and that's when it hit me. I immediately started crying and Chris told me I had to stand if he was going to be able to this. I opened the shell and found a pearl engagement ring. Chris got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife and was met with a big yes.
