We’re getting married and starting our adventure!

With the knowledge that we both wanted to have a small wedding ceremony with our closest family and friends before jumping into our next adventure, I knew a proposal was soon! I never could’ve imagined how beautiful and thoughtful the day would be. Calvin encouraged me to take a day off work and (not so) casually suggested Leap Day! In Irish tradition, Leap Day is the one day that women are “allowed”to propose to men. While I had a sneaking suspicion that this would be the big day for me, I also wanted to be prepared and I made sure I had his ring ready as well. On 02/29, we spent the day together relaxing and adventuring around town. With much excitement growing through the day and evening coming soon, I was ecstatic when Calvin suggested a walk around the beautiful Papago Park right outside of the Phoenix Zoo. The sun was just beginning to set, the weather was perfect. We walked around the corner of the path to see a dock up ahead, covered in red rose petals, with champagne, flowers and candles at the end. It was breathtaking. We walked onto the dock and Calvin turned and got on one knee. The exact words are a blur but all I remember is the tears of joy and saying “Yes!” I was able to collect myself enough to remember that it was indeed Leap Day and pull out Calvin’s ring and propose right back to him! Two of our good friends popped out of the bushes and had photographed the whole thing! After taking more photos and celebrating the moment, Calvin told me that we had dinner reservations. We arrived at Social Hall in Tempe and walked into our engagement party in a room filled with nearly all of our Arizona friends and beautiful decorations. I was beyond overwhelmed, surprised and felt so incredibly loved. I will never forget the joy and excitement of our first leap day together. We are so excited to start our lives together and to share this journey with all of you. To many more leap years and many more adventures.
