We both were attending the University of Louisville and ended up in both an animal behavior class and a botany class in the same semester. Jessi was training a service dog for Paws with Purpose at the time, and David really liked dogs. Our mutual friend, Lauren Thomas, encouraged Jessi to give David her number because "he had a German Shepherd, you have German Shepherds, it's meant to be."

The stars truly aligned for this proposal. In the middle of Jessi's internship, she had one day off in January that happened to overlap with a day off for David. David drove them 3 hours to New Hampshire to see the ice castles where he led Jessi to the highest icy peak and got down on one knee just in time for the camera's timer to go off. And what did he say, after 5 years together? "Jessi... will you finally marry me?" Don't worry, she said yes. And yes, David drove the 3 hours back that night, too.
