Over 7 years ago, this Florida girl packed her bags and moved to the Big Apple and never looked back. I was ready to start my career as a professional clothier selling custom suits to New York’s finest. On a chilly October evening after a long week of cold calling for a 100% commission job, I was ready for a night on the town. What better place for a recent college grad with student loans to go out than Murray Hill where the bars had “somewhat” affordable drinks. Still with work on the mind, I spot a handsome guy in a Brooks Brothers button down who probably worked in “fuh-nance” and ask for his business card. While he was most certainly confused as to why a girl is trying to sell custom suits on a Saturday night at a bar, he still manages to give me his business card and we exchange cell phone numbers. I find out it’s his 25th Birthday and we dance the night away… but after that “Zach from J Tree” goes silent. Turns out he had a good reason for his silence and he’s actually the smartest and most hard-working person that I have ever known. He had been studying for Level 1 of the CFA (which if you have ever known someone studying for this exam, they basically fall off the face of the earth for months at a time). After explaining that he had just finished the CFA exam he asks me out on an official date. I remember going home for the holidays and telling my family about this guy I met and that something was special about him. I was right and on Valentine’s Day 2013 he made it official that’s where our story began.

Fast forward 6 years to February 6th, 2019… we (and by we I mean Zach) planned a road trip from Vegas to Denver after a stressful fiscal year end for me (now selling software, not suits). After stopping by the Hoover Dam and staying at the Grand Canyon, our next stop was in Moab, Utah to hike Arches National Park. Zach had a great idea to hike the arch during sunrise since this was a popular spot and then we could hit the road to tour next stop which was Beaver Creek. For Christmas, Zach had even given me new hiking gear and a headlamp so that I’d be prepared for our adventures out west. On a beautiful morning, there had been a light snowfall over Arches National Park leaving a blanket of snow over the rocks. As daylight slowly emerges, we make it to the Delicate Arch. Only one other person was at the Arch (who of course I asked to take a picture of us) making it such a neat experience. Soon that person left and Zach suggests we sit down and rest to watch the rest of the sunrise. Zach begins telling me about how much he enjoys our adventures together. Not catching his drift, he then starts asking me if I want to go on these adventures together forever and then completely surprised me by asking me to be his wife. It was the most romantic setting I could have ever dreamed of (our Save the Date photo)! We then hit the road for Beaver Creek where Zach planned out a perfect way to celebrate at a top spa resort sipping champagne, followed by a bobcat ride up the mountain for dinner at the top at a restaurant, suitably, called “Zach’s Cabin.” HE DID GOOD GUYS. HE DID GOOOOOD.
