We’d be remiss if we didn’t start this story by shouting out the two people we have to thank for this very relationship… Imani Gunn and Shaquan Herron. In 2020, Taylor was visiting D.C. to celebrate Imani’s birthday when she ended up at a Georgetown Law Halloween party. Neither she nor Tyler went to Georgetown—or law school—but let’s not get caught up in the details. They met briefly, exchanged a few words, and went their separate ways. Later that night, back at a friend’s apartment, Taylor was asked by Shaquan (Tyler’s former roommate and certified wingman) what she thought of “his boy Tyler.” Shaquan, in true Shaquan fashion, delivered a heartfelt pitch: “When I think of a good person, I think of Tyler.” What started as a promise from Taylor to text Tyler back if Shaquan passed along her number turned into Shaquan cheffin’ up something better than his famous jerk wings—he cooked up the start of their love story. Unfazed by the long distance (thank God for COVID flight pricing), the two spent the next three years traveling coast to coast, spending weeks on end together… and well… Five years from the very month they met, they’ll say “I do.” So really, this wedding is just a very elaborate 'thank you' party for Imani and Shaquan.
