Shortly after New Years 2020, Taylor and Travis matched on Hinge, and they started chatting and briefly getting to know each other. While Taylor was working a long 12 hour shift, Travis had texted her asking if she wanted to come over for wine and dinner. Travis was thinking Taylor was nuts for agreeing to come over to a stranger's house for dinner, but he proceeded to make one of his signature meals - homemade chicken cordon bleu, which has since become a staple meal he cooks since they've been together. They began dating shortly after, and just two months later, COVID hit. The pandemic and quarantine put Taylor and Travis's relationship to the test early on, but they grew stronger through the experience. Just 6 months into the relationship, they moved in together in Roberts, WI. They've experienced both starting new jobs together including Travis adjusting to working from home and Taylor working in the COVID unit. They bought a house together in March of 2021 in Somerset, WI. They have worked together in raising their two fur babies, Gordy and Moose. It was truly a "when you know, you know" moment early on in their relationship.
One of Taylor and Travis's favorite things to do in the fall is the Dead End Hayride in Wyoming, MN. They had "planned" on going to the hayride the night of October 23, 2021 with their friends Alec and Angela. Travis had claimed he was going to help his brother Kyle with renovating his old house to sell, so Taylor and Angela jumped around downtown Stillwater for the day. In the evening, Taylor and Angela headed back to get ready for the hayride. Angela did her best to keep Taylor occupied in the basement "getting ready" to go to the hayride. Travis was nowhere to be found. When Taylor went upstairs and saw tons of twinkle lights in their backyard trees, she was suspicious. Angela said, "I think you should go back there and check it out." While Taylor was walking back, she spotted Travis standing in the middle of their little backyard forest with the lights all around them. She also spotted her friend Kiara snapping pictures. She knew instantly what was happening, but said anyway, "what's going on??" Travis gave a short and sweet note about how Taylor is his best friend and how he wants to spend the rest of their lives together, but the nerves got to him and instead of saying he wanted to make Taylor his wife, he said, "I can't wait to be your wife." Oops! Of course she said yes! Then the party started. All of Taylor and Travis's friends and family traveled from near and far to their house to celebrate. Champagne was had, hugs were given, stories were shared. It was a perfect night celebrating the love between Taylor and Travis and their future together. As a slight backstory, while Taylor and Travis were house hunting, they came upon their now house and fell in love with it. They have a wonderful backyard with trees, wildlife, and a pool. This was when the housing market was nuts. Their realtor recommended writing a love letter to the homeowners on why they should accept Taylor and Travis's offer. Taylor was in the middle of a 6-day workweek at the hospital, so Travis took the reins on the letter. Taylor was ecstatic that he had done the letter, but Travis wouldn't read the letter to her. Come to find out after the proposal, Travis told Taylor that he actually said in the letter that if they got accepted on the house, he planned to propose to Taylor in that backyard. How do you say no to that?!
