Steven and I met during high school. I played softball and was working a fundraiser at Pizza Inn. Steven came with one of his best friends, Damon Heaton, who I knew prior. I went to their table to say hello to Damon and was introduced to Steven. Instantly, I was drawn to Steven, but I didn’t think much of it because I was a freshman and he was a junior. Lucky for me, Steven was drawn to me as well and left his phone number as a comment on one of my Instagram posts. In his words, “I was just his type.” However, Steven and I simply remained friends throughout high school. Life seemed to always take us different directions, but we always found our way back to each other and maintained a strong friendship. It wasn’t until 2019 when we rekindled (again), and this time decided to give a relationship a try. Now, we always say “the timing was right,” because we both had the chance to grow into the best version of ourselves. What started out as a friendship built of kindness, understanding, and love turned into a lifetime of love. Steven is my best friend…my soulmate, and I feel so lucky to love and be loved by him for all of our forever.
Steven proposed in the place he is most comfortable… the Kia dealership. About a week before it happened, he asked me if I would be in a commercial with him for the dealership. This was something that was way out of my comfort zone. I tried a couple of times to say no, but Steven told me I wouldn’t have to say much. We agreed 5 words or less, which he honored given I only had to say one word…“yes!” I actually joked with him that this was “initiation” into his family. Of course he didn’t mean it that way, but it’s funny to think about now. It was a complete surprise and there were a lot of nerves, but I wouldn’t have had it any other way! I love that we have our special moment on video thanks to our good friend Amy Lynn with Daytime Tri-Cities!
