Our First Date

February 24th, 2017

The week before, Shawn asked me on a date. On the 17th, I repeatedly texted him trying to figure out where he was at. I sat in Steak and Shake's parking lot for 45 MINUTES! I had finally had enough waiting and set off towards Independence to see my big sister. The moment I got on the highway, he called me. I told him I had already headed to my sister's and he was just out of luck. He was working nights at the time and sleeping the day away and didn't wake up to his alarm. He begged me for a redo. I told him it was a possibility, but it wouldn't be until the next week. He swore it wouldn't happen again. We continued our conversations over the next few days. He begged me to give him one more chance. So, I said," Meet me for breakfast and I will rethink cutting you out." Friday rolled around, I was so nervous. I got up early, could barely sleep the night before. Got myself ready and headed out the door. I knew I was going to be early, so I was prepared to wait. I got their at 9:45. 15 minutes early. I pulled up and went to park, realizing he was already there. I was shocked. I was nervous because we hadn't actually met yet. The moment I stepped out of my car, my whole life was changed in an instant. His face said the same thing. His smile and his eyes were the most warm and comforting things I had seen. He managed to get out, "Wow. You're absolutely beautiful." *insert big smile and blushing here* We walked in and sat down. I don't even remember ordering food. We sat for TWO HOURS, just talking. I honestly can't even remember actually eating we talked so much. It was the most comfortable I had ever felt with anyone in my whole life. It was on that day, I realized there was a real possibility of spending my life with this amazing man.

Proposal

December 25th, 2017

Christmas was the greatest and worst day of my life. The day I got proposed to by my best friend, and the day my grandpa passed away. So the night before, we both were in bed with fevers and feeling worse than ever. I could tell there was something bothering Shawn, but I wasn't sure what it was. Christmas morning we woke up and he begged me to change out of my pajamas and look nice. I let it go and got myself ready, hoping it would make me feel better. We had done presents with my sisters and their kids and were preparing to "take pictures". We all went outside and I was setting up the camera. I looked around to all my siblings and nieces and nephews gone. "I'm cold! Where is everyone!?" I kept asking my mom. Down the walk of my parents' house came all my nephews and my niece. Then my sisters and lastly, Shawn. All had a sign in their hand spelling "Will You Marry Me?" I couldn't believe my eyes. It felt like a dream. I hadn't seen my sister in ten years and the month before she finally came back into our lives' with her three kids and here they all were. Helping the man I love give me a proposal I would never forget. I immediately lost it. Couldn't contain my emotions and excitement. This is a feeling I will never forget.
