It was Thanksgiving last year. Started like any other Thanksgiving, but it became one for the books :). Everyone asks if I expected it and no I did not, although I stressed Paul out the night before making a joke to him that he should propose tomorrow... little did I know he was already planning to! Now morning of everything was normal, we drank mimosas and mom finished up the cooking. Hannah and Gavin slyly convinced me to paint my nails for the day (thank goodness) through peer pressure. The day kept progressing as usual, at least to my knowledge, behind the sense mom is hiding in her closet blowing up balloons, Paul is home getting ready to ask, and everyone else is keeping the secret very well. Around 1:00 Paul went to sit outside on the Patio, hoping I would follow, but like any good plan it was ruined as I did not follow him out there. All the while I'm thinking "why is Paul outside and not hanging out inside with me". Eventually I took the hint to go outside as more and more family started to make there way out to the patio. At about this time I figured something was going on. I gave Paul a quick once over when I joined him outside to check for a ring box in his pocket, but didn't see anything. He gave it away when he asked if we could take a photo together, something he never does! We walked over to the mesquite tree in our backyard with photographer Hannah, taking a couple photos. We got a couple good shot and than Paul says "I think we need one more". He gets down on one knee, is at a complete loss of words as he was so nervous quickly blurts out "I love you, will you marry me". I OBVIOUSLY said YES! My family ran out with balloons in excitement and we spent the rest of the day celebrating surround be loved ones!
