We met in the Fall of 2016. More specifically, August 31, 2016, my (Taylor) very first day working at my new part time job at the Kroger Deli on Euclid near UK's campus. I actually didn't get that job at first because I had put on my application that I didn't want to work weekends. I guess something was telling me that I should work there so I told them I would in fact work weekends so I could get the job. The fun thing about the first day we met is, I don't remember it, so we have to go by how Nathan tells it. It's my first day and I'm in the elevator to go down to the stock room or break room area and so was Nathan. We didn't know each other at this point and Nathan decided to make small talk and ask me if I went to UK. I said yeah and he asked my major. I told him Environmental & Sustainability Studies (wordy I know) and asked him what he was. He responded that he was a double major in Accounting and Finance. To which I apparently replied in a somewhat rude tone saying something along the lines of "Wow that sounds really boring." So yeah, you're probably thinking at this point how did we even get together. That's a good question because after that interaction Nathan thought I was mean. Which I'd say is fair. After several weeks going by, me in the deli and Nathan working produce, which were right next to each other, we got to talking a lot and quickly became friends. The first time we hung out outside of work was Halloween 2016 when we decided to meet up at Willy T (the library) afterwork. For the record, we had both dressed up for Halloween at work. I was a fairy and Nathan was Dexter from Dexter's Laboratory. Anyways, when we met up that night at the library, we both had a TON of work we needed to do for our classes. I think I had to read like several chapters of a book and Nathan had some pretty intense homework. So we actually really needed to focus. But did we? Lol no. We sat in the library for for hours and well into the morning talking about anything and everything. I didn't tell Nathan this until I think pretty recently that I knew that night that he was going to be trouble. By the end of that year and going into early 2017, all of our coworkers in the deli and produce that knew both of us were absolutely convinced we were going to get together. Like they really wouldn't leave us alone about how we needed to date. Nathan really was a great coworker though. When me and another lady would close in the deli, Nathan would come over and help us take out our trash without ever complaining or having me ask him to do it. He just did it. I find this really funny because it's currently trash night and neither of us want to take the trash up to the street. Spring 2017, Nathan leaves Kroger and I am mad at him for ditching me. I ended up leaving soon after. A couple months after that on June 26, 2017, we decided to make it official. Nathan asked me out at the top of the West Pinnacle in Berea. Over the years, Nathan and I have had some of the most fun I've ever had in my life. We've traveled to Canada and all over the Eastern part of the country. We also lived long distance for a little over a year during Covid when I moved back home to Louisville. Thankfully, the majority of Nathan's friends also decided to move to Louisville so Nathan ended up joining me. I'm sure he would've moved here anyways, but I have fun saying he only moved here for his friends (thanks guys!). Since then, we've purchased our own home, inherited a senior dog, Zoe, and adopted our crazy cat, Fettuccine Ralphredo aka Ralph. We've had a fun journey to get to this moment and I wouldn't change any of it for the world.
