Although from two opposite sides of the country, God had very strategic plans for these two. Melanie and Taylor met while filming a video for their church's annual DIVINE Women's Conference. Melanie had been chosen as one of the girls to play in the video while Taylor was the one filming. Taylor will tell you that he saw Melanie prior to that shoot at Orientation. Melanie had just moved to Georgia for Free Chapel College. Although Melanie has no recollection of Taylor being at that Orientation, Taylor will tell you that he couldn't stop staring at her, peeked at her name tag, and looked her up on Instagram to try and find a photo with the balloons to tell him how old she was. The two started dating about 6 months after despite the awkward first moments and misread signals (bless Taylor's heart).

Taylor proposed to Melanie on Sun. July 21st, 2019 in Laguna Beach, CA while on a trip to visit Melanie's family. It was important to Taylor that he got her father's blessing, proposed in CA (where Melanie's from) and that her family be there. With the help of friends, the entire proposal and surprise engagement dinner were planned to perfection. Taylor and Melanie started off their Sunday as they typically do with church then coffee and lunch with friends. The only other plans they had that day (or so Melanie thought) were to visit with her mom, grandma, and aunt then have dinner with their friend Aahmes. When they met up with their friend Aahmes she suggested that Melanie ride with her and Taylor meet them at dinner. Without hesitation or question, Melanie went with Aahmes. They arrived at Surf & Sand Resort and when they got there, Taylor had already pulled up and started to head inside. Melanie just assumed they were there to pick up Aahmes' daughters. To Melanie's surprise, when they got to the room she was walking into her own proposal. The floor had a pathway of rose petals, candles, and signs. There were photos of the two of them, a photographer, and Taylor out on the balcony looking 7 kinds of nervous. Melanie definitely tried to escape out of shock. As she followed the rose petal pathway to Taylor on the balcony, he said proceeded to tell her sweet things and ask if she'd marry him. Melanie was still in shock that she asked Taylor to repeat what he said twice. She still doesn't recall. Eventually, she said "yes" and asked if they were still going to dinner. Taylor had planned a dinner to follow with their closest friends and family to celebrate. They hope you will continue to celebrate with them as they step into a new journey as Mr. and Mrs.
