When Matt met Taylor at the Crunkleton bar in downtown Chapel Hill, he was smitten. Taylor, meanwhile, needed another minute or two to think about it. Throughout the rest of Taylor's final year at business school, she and Matt continued to see each other, but it wasn't until she moved away to Nashville post-graduation that she finally agreed to date Matt. Because what solid relationship doesn't begin with long distance? Despite their lack of proximity, Matt and Taylor made it work. Taylor, the newly employed corporate finance worker bee, and Matt, the frequent patron at Pantana Bob's, flew back and forth to see each other thanks to Southwest Airlines. But throughout the year apart, their love only grew stronger, and when COVID hit, they found themselves together at last, back where they first started in Chapel Hill. They moved to Austin in June 2020. Matt, under the impression that COVID was almost over, convinced Taylor that moving to the city where he was going to be working was smarter. A year and a half later, Matt gathered both sets of parents (and both dogs) at Zilker Park and popped the question. Taylor could not contain her excitement and immediately forgot everything Matt said while down on one knee, but nonetheless said yes immediately. Now, they are ready to begin the rest of their lives together in Austin. They recently bought a house, Matt still jokes about getting more dogs, and Taylor is busy designing the perfect living room.
