We recommend renting a car if you plan to explore beyond the Village at Palisades Tahoe. While the Village is walkable and has plenty to enjoy (restaurants, bars, hiking trails, and the wedding venue), it’s a ~12-minute drive from Lake Tahoe itself and ~15-minute drive to downtown Truckee. For trips to the lake, downtown, more hiking trails, or other nearby adventures, having a car is the easiest option. Ubers and taxis are limited.
