When we first met, it was through FaceTime. Howie, which is my nickname for Kenneth, was visiting a college friend in his dorm room. That friend happened to be one of my best friends from high school. I was video chatting with him and noticed Howie in the background. I couldn’t resist; I begged him to let me talk to him. After a bit of hesitation, he agreed, and we ended up chatting for a while. There was an immediate spark between us. We discovered we had so many common interests, and our conversation flowed effortlessly as if we’d known each other for years. As time passed, our connection grew stronger. We started talking on the phone nearly every day, and the ease of our conversations only deepened our bond. The excitement built up to the moment when we finally met in person. Howie came to my house, and we had our first date at an Italian restaurant in Watkins Glen. The evening was magical, and afterward, we returned to my place where Howie spent time with my family, who immediately took a liking to him. He later told me how comfortable he felt around them, which meant so much to me. After that first day together, Howie didn’t waste any time. He called me right away to ask when we could go out again. He later shared that on the drive home, he was thinking about how he had found the person he wanted to spend the rest of his life with. Every moment since then has only reinforced that feeling. I love you so much, Howard.
