FAQs

Question

What time does the wedding start?

Answer

The ceremony will begin at 5 pm, but guests are welcome to come to Horning's Hideout anytime after 3 pm.

Question

Is there a dress code for the ceremony/reception?

Answer

Not at all. We want you to be comfortable. Dress up as much as you'd like, though! The ceremony is down a slight hill on a gravel path and there's some uneven grassy terrain. Average temperatures in late June for North Plains, OR are typically in the low 70's. Oregon has natural air conditioning in the evenings.

Question

So... can I wear this?

Answer

Yes.

Question

Can I camp at the wedding venue? ⛺️

Answer

Heck yeah, you can! We plan to camp onsite on Friday night and we invite any guests who want to camp to join us and spend the night at Horning's Hideout. More info about camping can be found on the TRAVEL tab on this website. Heads up: All campers must depart from Horning's Hideout no later than 11 am on Saturday June 28th (regardless of how much wine or kombucha you consume the night before). If you want to camp but are unsure about gear, let us know and we can help you figure out renting or borrowing.

Question

If I don't want to camp, do you have any hotel recommendations?

Answer

Yes, please see the Travel tab on this wedding website which provides a few nearby options in Forest Grove and Hillsboro.

Question

If I'm flying in, is a rental car recommended?

Answer

Yes, a rental car is recommended for those flying in. Horning's Hideout in North Plains, OR is about 35 miles from the Portland International Airport and 25 miles from downtown Portland. It's about 13 miles and 25 minutes from McMenamin's Grand Lodge (site of the Thursday welcome gathering).

Question

Is there transportation to and from the hotels to the ceremony?

Answer

No, but there's plenty of parking available at Horning's Hideout... And if you choose to camp it's just a few hops, skips, or jumps from the wedding site to your tent. :) For those requiring a ride home via Lyft or Uber, pick up is at the red barn at the park entrance. A ride share sign, bench and overhead light are located at the red barn.

Question

Where should I park for the ceremony and reception?

Answer

Please park at the "Creekside" site location when you arrive at Horning's Hideout. Look for the "Creekside" signs!

Question

Can I bring my kids?

Answer

We love your kids. We do. But this is a grown-ups only event, children are not invited to attend.

Question

Can I bring my dog?

Answer

Please don't. For a few reasons, this is a pet free event. No cats either, please. Although if Taylor Swift can make it, Katie might make an exception for her cats. We'll see.

Question

But my dog is different, right? You don't mean my dog, do you?

Answer

We do. Thanks.

Question

I'm vegetarian, vegan, gluten free, _______ , etc. Will there be food I can eat at the wedding?

Answer

Yup. Our appetizers, dinner menu (a fresh Taco bar prepared on-site by Portland's Verde Cocina), and desserts (from Eugene's Sweet Life Patisserie) will all accommodate your needs.

Question

Are there real bathrooms and running water at the wedding site?

Answer

Yes! Horning's Hideout is rustic, but there is a full service restroom with flushing toilets, TP, running water, and even a locking door just steps from the reception site. There are also lots of trees nearby.

Question

Where's my phone?

Answer

Good question. Good luck.
